The dispute between the Marine Engineers' Society and the Northern S.S. Co. has been amicably settled ; the second engineers receive the scale of pay demanded by the Society, but a compromise was effected concerning the wages of chief engineers.
The charges against Professor Martin Swallow are proceeding at the Police Court, with closed doors. He has been committed for trial, on a charge of inciting one McLean to commit an indecent assault.
