New Find.—A decided change for the better has taken place in the appearance of the reef in north end of the low level. The quartz has lost its hard flinty nature, and has a most promising look for gold, and it is not unlikely that before many feet are driven payable stone will again be met with. A contract has justbeen let for carrying on the south end of the level to the Diamond Gully boundary, and work in that direction will be at once resumed. In the winze sunk from the Arizona level some of the best stuff got in the mine for a length of time has been obtained during the week. The reef is large, and the gold is well scattered through it. The blocks thus being opened up are likely to prore of great value. The other parts of the mine are yielding stone of the usual grade. May Queen. —The exceedingly satisfactory results that have attended the sinking of the two winzes, and the prospects obtained on the line of the reef between these workings, prove almost to a certainty the existence, of a large extent of payable ground in this claim. Steps are now being taken for its more thorough development, and a level will immediately be started whereby the lode can be efficiently workid. A 10 ton parcel of Stuff Las just been crushed at the battery, and 2300zs of amalgam is now on hand. The blanketings have yet to be treated, and the retorting is expected to give gold equivalent to nearly four ounces per ton.
