LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Wellington, Yesterday. The West Coast Harbor Loan Bill, the Thames Kecreation Reserves Sale Bill, and the Wanganui Harbor Bi 1 were read a first time, as also was a Bill to declare the liabilities of shareholders in companies carrying on business as executors and trustees, introduced by the Hon. Mr Wilson.—The Cruelty% to Animals Bill was read a second time.—The Wellington Harbor Board Empowering Bill, the Slaughterhouses Bill, and the Otago Presbyterian Church Property. Bill were read a third time and passed.—The Coun cil went into committee on the Otago Harbor Board Loans Consolidation Bill and Workmen's Wages Bill. The former was reported with amendments, and progress was reported in the latter at clause 2.—The Imprest Supply Bill No. 4 was passed through all its stages.
The Speaker laid oa the table a communication from the Premier stating a wish to protest on the part of Christchurch ministers of religion against members going Sabbath excursions.
