The manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Co. of New Zealand reports having sold to-day 204 000 feet kauri timber at the average price for hewn logs of 14s 6d per 100 feet super. The following quotations ruled at to-day's sale :— Sawn flitches, 14s 9d; sawn boards, 1 inch, 15s 6d; ditto, 1£ to 3-inch, 15s 9d. These were for inferior quality. Dressed boards realised, for f-iach, 22s per 100 feet; super. T. and G. flooring, 6 x I^, 9s 9d per 100 feet lineal; 4 x Is, 7s lOd ; sawn pickets per 1000 feet, 265; firm and active demand was experienced. Thursday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) held their first wool sale for the season this afternoon, when there was a crowded attend- ! ance. The catalogue comprised 1310 bales. la general the prices realised were about equal to those obtained at last year's sales, but rales were slightly easier for greasy wool. The bidding was spirited throughout,—l2oo bales being disposed of under the hammer. The prospects of Melbourne market are exceedingly good, and extensive buying orders are known to be on hand.
