The weather is fine, but too windy; the course is in good order, and the attendance fair, mostly from Timaru.
Maiden Huedles of 60 soys., 2 miles, 8 flights, welter for age.—Faust, 1; Maroon, 2; Mermaid, 3. Good start; Fnust had it all to himself for the first round, the other two having baulked repeatedly, but at the second round Marcon rapidly overhauled him, and they came down the straight neck and neck, the whip being used freely. Won by a head. £88 passed through the totalisator ; dividend, £1 Bs.
Maiden Plate of 50 soys., 1|- miles.— Cranmer, 1; Barbery, 2; Talebearer, 3. Gaters also ran. A good race, lying at first between Cranmer and Talebearer, but approaching the straight the latter was overhauled by Barbary, who came in half length behind Cranmer.
Sibes Pboduce Stakes of 60 soys, 1\ miles—All Fours. 1; Full Hand, 2 ; Ina, 3. Time, 3mins 25secs ; dividend, £1 13s.
G.E.C. Handicap of 160 soys, 1J miles —Hon. Bpbinson's Vanuuard, 1; P. Butlers Tim Whiffler, 2 ; G. Bites' Minerva, 3. A gocd^race, but a moral for Vanguard, who was a hot favorite. Time, 3mins 30 sees ;. dividend, £1 14s.
