OUR MINES

DART

In driving west on No. 2 reef at No. 4 level a clay seam (containing a great deal of mineral) has come in on the footwall of the lode, and has now butted against the quartz, though it has not yet passed through it. It is probable that this is the same clay seam which passed through the lode at No. 3 level. \ The reef in the face is throe feet wide. In the winze from No. 9*ievel the lode shows an improvement, being 2ft wid<% and showing colors of gold whenever broken.

CAMBRIA.

The works on the hangingwall reef at y the 230 ft level are being pushed ahead', and ouartz which should prove of good payable quality is coming to hand. Gold is seen in colors and dabs at each break* ing, and the quartz also carries a very favorable class of mineral. The hopper is now nearly full of quartz, so crushing will probably be started shortly. The directors have sanctioned continuing the crosscut into (be hangingwall, and the manager has therefore let a contract to extend it another 100 ft.

GOLD RETURNS.

Moanatairi.—G. White and party hare banked sozs Sdwts go]d, and a parcel of quartz for F. White and party has yielded 12ozs 4dwts gold. ■ •
