GISBORNE.
This day. Robert Finlayson was to-day charged with arson ef a small store at Reporoa, his own property, and was committed for trial. The insurance was effected a month before. Prisoner's footmarks were traced from the scene of the fire to Awanui, where it was proved accused slept that night. Accused's boot fits exactly with the footprints. Fiulayson is reported to have said to Hayes, a native, " You got me into this; when I get out I'll shoot you."
Trickett, alias Marshall, remanded from Wellington to Auckland for wife desertion, was arrested yesterday by the police, charged by Miss E. Harris, Gisborne, with bigamy.
