NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.
The interim retorting of the amalgam resulting from the treatment of the 16cwt of specimens accumulated during the past fortnight took place at the company's battery this morning, and gave the splendid result of 19670zs of gold, which was duly banked. This return is an average of considerably over an ounce per pound,} and is the richest average ever obtained by the company from any large parcel of stone crushed. Considering also that it came from a depth of quite 470 ft. below the sea level, it is very eucouraging as pointing to the occurrence of deep level deposits of the precious metal. The gold was not melted to-day, and the manager does not intend to put if. through that proceis until the general cleaning up at the end of the month. GOLD RETORNS. Caked >nian. —George and party hare banked 2ozs 3d wts gold. Moanatairi.—James and party hare crushed Bibs stone for loz 16dwts gold.
