This day. A Narrow Escape. A goods train from Te Awamutu to Auckland ran off the line near Bangiriri last evening, through the points of the loop liae not being properly fixed.
Fortunately the engine driver noticed the points out of place before coming up, and shut off steam, otherwise serious loss ?of life and damage to property would have resulted.
