T,ho contractors in the eastern drive on the main ree/ have finished their alloted distance, aud the reef, which has looked poor .for a few. feet, shows an improvement again. The manager has recommended that instead of continuing this levelj for the present, a winze be sunk at thY point were gold was seen a day or two ago. This gold was obtained close to the floqrj. and the manager wishes to see whether it improves downward,: The slopes on the stringers continue to produce payable'dirt, v : \ f r ;■■.-;: .•■;■■■>■ The footwall stringers have been picked up seaward of the crosscut; and gold is seen in the quartz, which is still, however, influenced 1 by the break. About 50ft. more driving should see the No. 2 reef in,hand.
