■ A slight improvement is noticeable in the western drive at No. X 6 level. The smooth clay seam which has formed the hanpingwall of the lode for the last 20fthas now disappeared, and the loie appears to be making stronger. In the eastern drive, same level, the reef is still small and mullocky. '■; QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
Beside the seaward drive on the' Vanguard lode at No. 8 level, where the; successful contractors have started opera-: tions, the only work in progress is a crosscut northward at No. 7 level, to intersect some leaders which are known to exist on the hangingwall^of the main reef. .
ROCKY POINT. Only the two stopes—the second and ; third—over tbe southern drive are in progress,' and ftc id: dirt is coming lo handfrom each of thera. In the third a large > mount or crushing stuff is being obtained, acd the face will iv the early part of next week be over the point where the specimens were secured in the secoud stope. A start has been made to cart dirt to the mill, in order to leave more roomiu the hopper, and crushing will in all probabilily be started: some ,time next week^ when there will be a large parcel on hand. A good return is expected. : - GOLD iISTUJJNS.
