The manager reported this morning \as follows for the past;:fortnight;:^;Yo,ur men have been employed on No":1 reef- (in the low level), wii'cli lis : ndw7ft--vfide, and, shows^ gold freely. , '-. Wo haveyet 50ft.tb, drive before reaching the boundaryj and ■'■;. thequartz from this part of the mine is worth an ounce per load. Two men have been employed on No. 2 reef, driving ;bbth ways; going eastward the reef; is: 3ft. ;: wide, and produced lOlbs. of picked stone: last breaking down. Ini the westerni driTei the reef has opened out to 18 inches, and is in splendid country. Two men hare been employed in the upper level-sipping on No. 1 reefy I have crushed 60 tons of quartz from all parts of;the mine,-.for the good yield of 81 ounces meltecl gold. I am sorry to informyou that the road: is now impassable, and^in consequence I will have to suspend >11 work in :th« mine after to day.—Thos. Black." The mine is now well opened up, and eight men. could keep, the mill employed were the road in good order. : .. ' : \ MARTHA EXTENDED (WAlHIj.< The Martha Extended is now putting in-a low level tunnel, which will greatly facilitate and cheapen the work of getting quartz to the battery.
