.THE BEIDAL OF THE GRACES. + Truth sat upon her starry throne/ ' And gazed with pitying eye '' Upon the world so faithless grown "' , Through sin and misery. ' ' ' " Oli, that the clouds of doubt woulri rise, " "And Love's bright beams dispel* r'; " The gloom of error from the eyes ' a 1 "Of all 6n earth'who dwell." Thus spake the virgin-goddes fair, . In accents soft and mild; ' ' Love heard her plaint, beheld her care, And thus her grief beguiled: " Sweet maiden, link thy fate with mine, " Thy promise sweet fulfil— " That Love and Truth may thus combine " To rescue man from ill. " Thus shall we usher in sweet peace " Upon a troubled world: " Error aLall flee, oppression cease, " Love s banner'be unfurled! * " Tliy grace shall rule the hearts of men, " And scatter every foe;' " Where Truth and Love together reign, " The fruits of joy o'erfldw." " Sweet Truth, I claim thee, thou art mine ; " I clasp thee to my heart, "All virtues in thy soul combine, " From thee I nVer can part." . She smiled, and o'er her lovely face A look of rapture spread, As folded in Love's strong embrace * - She bowed her modest head. Oh, Love is strong, and Truth is free; Puro as an angel's dream, The soul shat can their beauty, see Without a veil between. . Hasten! fair dawn of-Freedom's day, When Love's e'ectric flame Shall melt the bonds of fear away, And Truth's blest law yroclaim. ' ; Then Peace shall reconcile each foo, And human hearts bo won, _ ' The perfect law of love to know, And all vile passions shun. * Wisdom and Truth with sacred joy Each heart shall cause to beat, :.
