' Sir Julius Vogel has just left Gorernment House; he has accepted the task of forming a Ministry, and is now-closing with M.v Stout. A fear is entertained that the Southern: element will be strong in any Gorernment formed by Sir Julius Vogel and Mr Stout;, but both these politicians are too old to make a mistake of that kind. The name of Mr Cadraan, member for Coromandel, has been mentioned as a likely Auckland man to obtain a seat in the Vogel-Stout Gorernf ment; this selection may be made in the hope of conciliating the Grey party and the mining industry.
