DUNEDIN.
; This day. The presentation of a largely signed address was made to Mr Thos. Dick this morning, requesting him to-reconsider" bis determination not to accept a seat in the Legishtire Council if offered. Mr Donald Beid, as spokesman, pointed out that the retiring Ministry, though unpopular now in consequence of depression, have left the colony in a much better position than when they took office. Mr Dick, in reply, declined on the ground that the Council is not the proper sphere for a* defeated can" didate, and announced his intention, on the occurrence of the first vacancy, to seek a seat in the House of Kepresenta■tives. ■;..■•••. ■ • . ••.■•■-•■ ■ r :y- .
