By-Law of the Council of the Borough of Thames, made under specinl order of the said Council, dated tho 24th day ' of April, 1884, confirmed the 22nd -day of May, 1884, and sealed with tlie common seal of the said Council the 19th day of June, 1884 :— " In pursupnee of the powers rested in them under 'The Mnniripai Corporations Act, 1876," the Council of tho Borough of Thames ordains as follows,' that i 8 to say — 1. Every ptrson who shall exercise or carry on the business of a hawker, pedlar, petly chapman, or any other trading persofl carrjing to sell, or exposing for sale any goods, wares, or merchaudise within the Borough, or who shall exhibi earn- - pies offoods, wares, or merchandise at private dwelling*", and shall therefrom execute orders (or tie sale of euch goods, wares, .or mercbondi c to the occupants thereof, shall be required to take out a license.

Every such license ehall be in. tlie form of the schedule hereto ennexed, and the same shall be in force for six months from the dale of the issue tt ereof. > ,\ 8. .Such license ehall be issued, by the Town j :.' Clerk to any -person applying for the —satoe en. payment of a sum. of -Two Pounds (£2), and such/application shall be in writinp, and signed by any two ratepayers and the applicant. 4. Such license ehall be shown on demand by the person to whom it has been issued to any officer of the police or servant of the Council of the Borough of Thameß, ani a copy thereof shall be deposited by f him within twenty-four hours (24) of the same being issued at the, office of the officer in charge of the police within the Borough of ibameß. 5. The license of any pedlar or hawker may at at>y time be cancelled by the Council of the Borough of Thames upon proof Ibafc such pedlar or hawker is an habitual diunkard, or has been convicted of stealing or using abusive language. | 1 6. This By-Law shall not extend to prevent any person' or* persons from selling or cfl'ering for sole fisb, iruifc, or milk in the public sJr ela or thoroughfares, or selling or exposing for sale any aorts of goods or merchandise in ecy public market or any public pace eet apart by the Council of the Borough of Themes for the like purpose. 7. The Town Clerk shall keep a register of the. names ard places of abode of all persons to whom such licenses shall be issued, and such regis'jr may be inspected by any person at any reasonable time t upon payment of one shilling (Is).
