Cleaning up and retorting for the month, which took place this morning produced the payable result of 193|ozs gold, which was reduced on. melting to 190ozs sdwts. The quantity of quartz crushed was 210 tons*' of general dirj, chiefly obtained from the workings at Nos. 2 and 3 levels. The manager has not yet commenced the sinking of the main shaft, as the weather has hitherto been so wet.

The manager this afternoon banked 28ozs 13dwts melted gold, the produce of the recent crushing, all 58 loads of quartz were, treated, the dirt from the intermediate level not yielding up to expectationsr Trial lots (six loads, in all) were treated from the three reefs cut in the No. 4 lerel crosscut, each giving about 9dwts gold per load. Our own correspondent, writing to day, says that the cleaning up of the plates from • 12 hours' run with 16 head, on Saturday, gave 52ozs hard-squeezed hotwater amalgam, of which there: is now 700ozg on hand, while the boxes have yet to be cleaned fi\xt. Cleaning up takes on Saturday.
