There was a good house in the Academy on Saturday night to witness the per* formance of a farce generally known as "The Steeplechase," bat- which; was metamorphosed in ihe matter of nomenclature, as far as the programme went, into " The Wrong Man." There was an abundance of absurdity in tho farce, and the audience seemed to relish it. The burlesque of "Black eyed Susan" was the piece-de-resistance, and not withstand* ing its age, and the way it has been used on every available occasion, it went very well. V We are glad to see an acquisition to the strength <of the combination by the addition to its members of Miss Duke and Mr Balfe, whose abilities are riot unknown to the Thames, To-night the weird American draraai "Rip Van Wipkle," will, be produced, and we hope that should"the spirit of Jefferson be in our yioinity, his shades will hot glower upon the, representatiTe of f the goodnatured old.(Dutchman, wJiose drauidrinking propensities; produoed 4is "long sleep. = On Wednesday evening, Mr Willmott takes a benefit, when 1 the drama, •'Led Astray,^ will be produced'by the^ company,- This; productionohas met with unanimous favour,t wherever it has been presented, and doubtless,; therefore, Mr Willmott has been wise in his selection of :it.i;;.;;-:-:-;-;-:;^-- ;• ■::;'V.-.;,)■ "■■r-y." .}■. - •/>■ '.■; ■ .;*
