The Late Standard Examinations.
In the.report of the Inspector (Mr K. J. O'Sullivan), laid before the Board of Education yesterday, several schools were were severely criticised. We quote the passages:— , • Pakekohe East, May 7, 1884.—70 on roll, 27 examined, 14 passed. Not satisfactory. Teacher should, I think, be warned. -
Pokeno Valley, May 15.—6Q on roll, 36 examined, 18 passed. Not satisfactory. Teacher should, I think, be warned.
Mercer, May. 22.—51 on roll,; 19 examined, 11 passed. State of school not satisfactory. I hare visited this school lately, and I find that the teacher is utterly unable to keep order. Such a man is useless in a primary school. Waiotahi Creek, June 19.—146 on roll, 65 examined, 45 passed. Not wholly satis factory. Writing all through school weak. Spelling, composition, and arithmetic should have been better in the third standard. In the fourth, composition was weak. Teacher should, I think, bo warned.
