:■ ," MEG'S DIVERSION," AND ; " CINDERELL4L." -j. The Willmott Company made their third appearance last night in a double bill consisting of "Meg's Diversion'" and the j burlesque of " Cjnderella." ''~< The 'wea, ther was very inclement, buti still there ;was a good house, and the ,enter« tainment deservedit. The;: first- piece is an oldi one, and well known to most tbe»tre.goer», nerertheless it was the!
cause of much merriment owing to the excellent comedians who took part in it.: T.he part of the mischie£-.making Meg was [capitally sustained by Miss Crawford, whose fun seemed contagious amongst the: audience. Miss Lawrence played Cornelia very engagingly. -Mr Eede's Jasper Pidgecn, was a good performance.; Mr Alexander did all he could' as Roland Pidgeon.-r and Messrs Herman and Teece, -as Meg's father' and Sir A'sh-\ leyxMertoa respectively, rendered their part? with care and precision. The burlesque of Cinderella was the feature of the evening, and from its commencement until the curtain fell, the audience were kept in one bubble of merriment, occasionally burst by a roar of laughter. Miss Johns, who played Prince;; Poppetti, clearly demonstrated that her forte is burlesqae"; she was extremely' happy in her part, revelled,in the fun o( it, and made her audience do the same thing. Miss Lawrence was quite a fascinating Ginde rella. C. As .the ascetic Clorinda, Cinder* rella?s eldest- sieter, Mr Wilkinson was I simply immense, and repeatedly brought down the house;' Mr Simrnonds' Thisbe was a very; fuuhy performance, and Mr M. Alexander as. Dandim was the cause of much merriment. The Earon Balderdash arid; Alidorb of Messrs Eede and Marter were exceedingly humorous, and taken altogether the burlesque was ex' cellently'pl'ijed. 'To-night "The Lancashire Lass " wiil be put upon the boards, when doubtless a :good house will greet this favorite drama.
