The Recidivists Question. In the House of Commons to-day the Hon. Evelyn Ashby, Colonial Under-Sec!, in reply to a question, stated that the earnest representation made by England on the subject of the Uecidivisto question is now seriously occupying the attention of the French Government. The Hon. Mr Ashley added that the Imperial Government would not interfere with any reasonable measure that might be rdopted in the colonies for.their self-protection against an influx of criminals.

The Esyptiaa Conference.

In the House of Lords, this afternoon, Earl Granville, .Foreign Secretary, announced that an important point has arisen to,-day at the Egyptian Conference, which the English delegates fouud It necessary to refer to Parliament.

A considerable decrease in the number of deaths from cholera is now manifested at Toulon. The disease, however, is spreading at Aries, and has appeared in a virulent form at Aix, sixteen miles nortawest, near Marseilles. Six deaths occurred at Aix to«day, and the inhabitants*of the town are flying in a panic.

The first meeting of the Conference which has been.organised to discuss the advisability of Imperial federation will be held to-morrow. The Eight Hon. W. E. Forster, late Chief Secretary for Ireland, will preside.
