A telelegram from Ohinemutu last night says :—•♦.This, morning Constable Adams arrested a native named Meihana, a luuatic, for having murdered a native woman named Te Tukemata, at To Ngae yesterday afternoon. The body was af»er; wards buried, but the constable had it exhumed. An inquest will be held. The murderer had been at one time in the asylum. On being questioned, the reason he gave was that the spirit told him to kill the woman."
The Licensed Victuallers have decided* on adopting the' following lines, viz, that the electoral rell shall be the roll to be used "at elections for Licensing Commissioners, that if Licensing Commissioners Bhall refuse the renewal of any licenses on the ground that the house is not required, the owner of such house,shall be entitled to fair compensation for such refusal. Any person feeling a grieved at the decision of the Licensing Commissioners shall have the right to appeal to a higher court.
