Consols have declined to 99|. The market rate of discount has fallen to If, and is now | below the bank rate. New Zealand securities :—5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 104£; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 103|; 4f per cent. 1879-1904-loan, lOlf; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 100 J. Colonial breadstuff quotations, ex store, are unchanged, viz., Adelaide wheat, 40ai; New Zealand, 34s to 40^; Adelaide flour, 28s. Tallow/—Australian average quality beef remains at 35s 6d ; ditto mutton; 37s ; the stock in London to-day is 18,800 casks.

The Egyptian Conference continued its deliberation to-day, Mr Edgar Vincent, Financial Adviser to the KhediVe, has recommended that taxes now levied in Egypt should be considerably reduced.
London, July 3
The cargo of frozen mutton, ex steamship Liguria, comprising 5459 carcases from Melbourne and Sydney, has been sold at 5d per lb. The meat was in good condition.

Kp fresh outbreak of cholera has oc* curred, and it ia believed that the precautions which have been taken will prevent any further spread of the disease. Several deaths, however, are repotted daily at Toulon and Marseilles. /
The French Government has demanded from China an indemnity of 20 millions sterling (?) on account of the recent action of the Chinese troops in opposing, by force of arms, the occupation of Langson by the French force. St. Pbbebbbubg, July 2. The death is announced of General Francis Edward Todleben, the celebrated Russian military engineer.
London, July .2. Cricket—Australian Victory.
The cricket match at Sheffield between the Australians r. Flayers of England was continued and concluded to-day, resulting in a rictory for the visitors by six wickets. The weather was again splendid, and the number of spectators on the ground very large. The home team, with two wickets down for 89 runs, resumed their second innings, which closed for a total of 134, The Australians, requiring 175 runs to win the match, then commenced 0 their second innings, and scored 178 with the loss of four wiokets, thus winning by six wickets, Bonnor, 95, and Bannerman, 68, being both not cut,
