After our report closed yesterday,' the following business was transacted:— •.

In r repljMd, a letter from tho'Town Clerked raw ing attention to two dangerous i bridges on the Tararii creek, the Engloeer stated that 'one of them was in -the Borough and that all those'iti the County whiph were dangerous hcd been remored. J. H. Smith, secretary to the Thames Paint Manufacturing XJo., wrote asking the Council to, forbear pressing tho Co. for its .water 'account, as it was a local industry, which deserved subsidising, and further requesting the Council to assist it by using the Co.'s paint on bridges, &c:~It" was mentioned that the 'Co. had I .' not' paid anything for walef since it commenced operations.— Considerable discussion on the, question ensued, Crs Fraser and.Couttg favoring a resolution that the company's liability be -considered discharged, Cr< Deeble thinking that the equivalent of the debt* should be taken in paint, Crs Porter and Bull moving that tbe debt should be paid in full, and Cr Bagnall considering that as a good deal of money had been sunk by private partiei jn endeavoring to foater a

M. Walker's scheme of and endless wire rope" tramway for the Upper" Waiotabi, was adopted. The Ghinetnuri Eevenue Arrears Committee were granted an extension of time.
