In reply to Mr Stevens, Mr Oliver said that thejp?acific Mail Company were, under thefcontract about to be executed, bound un|er a penalty of £25,000 to carry out the mail contract as far as this colony is concerned, till next November twelvemonths for £31,250 a year; and there was now a great probability of getting it re» duced by £8500 by the American Govern-; ment contributing. The Council adjourned till noon tomorrow. * '
