The Rebels. Advancing.
British Reinforcements for Assouan. ' . " Major Kitcbner, who for some time past has been in command of a body of Bedonin irregular troops stationed at Korosko, has telegraphed from that'towa that he sighted the rebel army during a recent reconnaisance.,,- ■%, Detailed account ' from independent sources confirm Major Kitcbner's report, and show that a strong body of rebels is now marching upon Korosko, a town about half way between Assouan and Wady Haifa, 100 miles from the southern boundary of Upper Egypt, and command* ing the passage of the Nile. Another body of troops is known| to be marching towards Dongola, an important Nubian town above the third < cataract on the Nile. In view of the threatened attacks by Arab,?, and their possible advance further northwards, the Sussex -Regiment now stationed at Assouit, has been ordered to proceed "at once to Assouan, a frontier town in Upper Egypt, and an important strategical position. The increasing gravity of the situation is, causing considerable alarm there, and anxiety is felt for. the garrisons and in habitants of Dongola and Korosko, which are believed to'be threatened, with attack. Another regiment will follow'the Eoyal Sussex to Assouan, in qrdsr to strengthen the garrison at that place.
