S.s. Doric Arrived at Auckland.
(Pee Pkess Association.) Auckland, Yesterday. The Doric, Capt. Jennings, arrived this evening at the Heads with 323 passengers, all told, a portion of them being Government immigrants for the South. The passage occupied 45 days, the actual steaming time being 44 days. In the early part of the voyage one of the firemen, who had small-pox, was isolated until off Teneriffe, where he was landed. There were no other cases of small-pox, but another fireman, named Smith, died of apoplexy in the tropics. During the voyage 18 cases of measles and 16 cases of chicken-pox occurred—the last case of measles occurring on June 11. The cases of chicken-pox are still under treatment, chiefly young children—the last case being on June 3. It is expected that the sick children, with their relatives, will be landed at the quar antine station. The Doric will probably be admitted to pratique to--morrow. All the measles and chicken pox cases were in the second cabin. Miss A. B. Campbell, a saloon passenger for Wellington, broke a blood-vessel to-day, and remains in a precarious condition. The Doric brings a small English mail.
