The Tuapeka Times of May 31 says Scarcely a week elapses but fresh' diV* coveries of quarlz reef bearing gold in payable quantities are made in. the vicinity ' of Mt. Earnslaw. head ofLafco Wakatipn. Of late these have been sofrequent that! considerably \ excitement prevails in Qaoenstown and neighborhood. Besides the three reefs opened out by the. Invincible Company, the Earo'slaw Com* . pany have a.payable reef further-up the Rees River, ;S Mr f L. D© Beer and «ome ' others are.testing a reef in the;tame' quarters; and Mr C. Hainea and other* " have discovered a reef supposed to be a continuation of the luvincible majin reef, ' near Earnslaw Creek. This laßt\ found reef is exposed and clearly defined, and shows gold. There are other parties out testing other reefs, both on the Rees and! Dart Rivers. The alluvial yields afe also good in the same neighborhood. If these discoveries pro T e payable, it will not bei;; long before a nice little settlement springs up at the head of Lake Wakatipn:'
