'From Symes and Co., Pharmaceutical Ohemiits, Medical Hall, Sitnla, January 5, 1880 To J. T. Davenport, Esq., 33, Great B-ÜBsell Street, Bloorosbury, London.—" Dear Sir,—W embrace this opportunity of congratulating you upon the wide-spread reputation this justly . esteemed medicine, De. Coixis Bbowne'b Chiobodxne, has earned for itself, not only in Hindostan, but all over- the East. As a remedy of general utility, we nuch question .whether a better is imported into the country, and; we ghall be glad to hear ot its finding aiplace in every Anglo-Indian home. The other brands, we are bappy to say, are now relegate^ to; the native bazaars, and, judging from their sale;, we : ncy their sojourn\there will be but evanescent. We could multiply instances ad infinit m of the extraordhnry eißcacy of Db. Coliis Beownb'b Chiobodxkb,' in Diarrhoea and Dj-t-ntery, Spasms, Cramps, Neuralgia, the Vomiting of Pregnancy, and a» a general sedative, that nave occurred inder our personal observation during many years. In Choleraic Diarrhoea, and 'even in the aore terrible formi of Cholera itself, we have witnessed its surprisingly controlling power. We have never used any other form of this medicine than Coliis Browne's, from a firm comction that it is decidedly the beßt, and also from rt a sense of duty we owe to the profession md the publip, as we are of opinion .that the substitution of any other than Cqllia Browne's is a delibebatb BREACH Or FAITH* ON THB PABT OV THE CHBMIBT TO PBBSCEIBBB AKD PATIENT AIIKB. SPECIALITY! SPECIALISTS! Draw on Nature — she compels, you to honour the acceptance. : mHIRTY years since, when Db Smith first J_ commenced practice here, it wss thought by medical men, that to. be a Specialist was derogatory to the professional man, but this, like most other innovations in scientific and lay matters, was found rather to aid than*tb be " infra dig" to that profession, wherein the speciality was practised. Lallemand and Bicord, in France, and Acton, in England, were for years cried down' by their medical brethren. Now and for many past years they have been looked up to, and quoted, by every man who pretends to have any knowledge of the particular branch of the profession which these gentlemen specially devoted themselves to. It was the same with Erasmus Wilson, the " Skin Doctor," recently knighted by Her Majeßty. Years since, it was the same with Dr.,L. L. ] Smith, of Melbourne, who practised (as did Lallemand and Bicord) as a specialist. In all cases of diseases and habits which* produce symptoms of Nervous Affections, 'of Skin Eruptions, of Prostration, aud make human beiegs invirile, or which unfit them to carry on the purposes of their being, or which 'demonstrates itself, on the other hand, in Eruptive Diseases and Secondary Forms of Affections. In all of these caseß how neces* sary it is to have the Specialist who haß devoted his whole lifetime to the studying ar d practising in this one branch of his profession? Hence, now, after so many years, all minutiae are familiar to him, and symp* tomb which (it is not unreasonable to suppose) may xot strike the General Practitioner at once, now from constant practice and observation made Dr. L. L. Smith master of the subject. The medical profession—that is, the more liberal-minded ef them—have likewise recognised this fact, and-Specialists now in every branch—oculists, aurists,,syphilic, mental diseases, chest diseases, and in fact every portion of the human frame, has .» ow some member of the profession who devotes his time to that, and to none other. For instance, the "chest doctor" would on no account attend an accouc 1 ement, and the oculist would not think of setting a broken leg ; but each would advise his patient to go to that dootor who is most famed for treating the disease requiring special skill. „ Db L. L. Smith asks those who require treatment for Weakness, Prostration, Barrenness, and Sterility, who'e frames and whose constitutions are shattered, to consult him as an expert —thirty (30) years practice in this colony, with a practice extending throughout not only the Colonies but in ludia, China, Fiji, and even in England, he claims ought to be sufficient to cause every man or woman requiring such skill as is alluded to above, to consult him either personally or by letter. As a Syphilographer no other medical man has been able to have such tlrge experience as he poßgeßsea, and for other allied affections— suoh as Nervous disease—no one in the profession has enjoyed bo much puhlio confidence. DR L. "SMITH. CONSULTATION FEE BY LETTER, £1. Medicine appropriately packed and forwarded all over the civilised globe. DR L. L. SMITH, 182, COLMKS BTBKEX EAST., H»XiIOtTBNE.
