The hearing of the petition for-the compulsory winding up of the affairs of the Oriental I3ank commenced at the Supremo Court to«day, but was adjourned untilto-morrow.

Hanlan Beats Laycock. The fieulling match between Hanlan and Laycock took place on the Nepean river this afternoon, and resulted in a victory for the former. For the first
quarter of a mile the boats were level, the competitors both appearing- to be rowing a waiting race. Hanlan then increased his speed, and at the half-mile was leading by'two lengths. Laycock then spurted, bn|>Hanlan answered, apparently without exming himself, and kept the lead for the remainder of the race, finishing- about half a length ahead. Time, 22mins 45secs. There was a large at" tendance of spectators.
