For the South Australian loan, the minimum of which was fixed at*par, tenders -at £100 Is 6d will receive. 14 per cent of allotment, and tenders above that j>rice in full.

The Australian cricketers commenced their third match to-day,, when they met eleven of the County of Surrey. The weather was splendid, and Kenuington was crowded with spectators, by whom great interest was t^ken in the game. The visitors went in first, and their innings closed for a total of 195; MacDonnell, c, 37, and Scott, c, 71, being the highest scorers. The Home team then went to the wickets, and as play closrd for the'day their innings ended for, 87 runs, towards which Mr Akroyd was tbe highest'contributor, with 35. For the Australians Spoffortli and Boyle bowled splendidly, the former taking 4 wickets for 20 runs, and Boyle 4.for 10. London, May 20. The Conference. In the House of Commons last night the Premier made a statement regarding the projected^ Conference of the European powers upon tho Egyptian quesHon. Government, Mr Gladstone said, adhered to the basis upon which tha Conference was to be held as originally announced. Parleying is sfill proceeding on tbe subject with France, and as soon as an agreement had been come to with that power concerning the question under discussion, the other European powers would be consulted.
