And never again shall a baby's kiss Make sweeter a mothers love. - The little white frock shall be worn no more, ' For the fashion has changed of late—" She wears 1 the garment as white as snow, ' That is worn in the angel state. And the ]ittle,shoes, all worn and frayed, Whose patter was music sweet , To the mother's ear, no longer shall sound To the step of the baby'a feet., -.', ■ For under a mound all covered with white, - A mound scarce.two feet'long, Is the body of one who was all too weak For a world so fierce and strong, / -lV And there my baby is resting sweet, ~ While I sit idly here. y With a frock, a rattle, a pair of shoes,, . ] - And the mother's blinding tear.
