T. Davenport, Esq., 33, Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London.—"Dear Sir,—W embrace this opportunity of congratulating you upon the wide-spread reputation this justly esteemed medicine, De. Coins Bbowkb's Chxobodxnb, has earned for itself, not only in Hindostan, but all over the East. As a remedy of general utility, we much question whether a better is imported into the country, and. we ehall be glad to hear of-its finding a place in every Anglo-Indian home. The otner brands, we are Viappy to say, aro now relegated to the native bazaars, and, judging from their sale, we ncy their sojourn there will be but evanescent. We could multiply instances ad infinil m of the extraordinary efficacy of Da. Coins Bbownb's ChIiOEODXNB in Diarrhoea andl Dyt-ntery, Spasms, Cramps, Neuralgia, the Vomiting of Pregnancy, and as a general sedative, that nave occurred under our personal observation during many years. In Choleraic Diarrhoea, and oven in the more terrible forms of Cholera itself, we have witnessed its surprisingly controlling power. We have never used, any other form of this medicine than Collis Browne's, from a firm conviction that it is decidedly the best, and also from a sense of duty we owe to the profession and the public, as we are of opinion .that the substitution of any other than Collis Browne's is a Dbijbjkratb, " BBEACH OP TAITH* ON THB PABT OF THB CHBMIBT TO IBESCBIBEB AWD PATIENT ALIKE. SPECIALITY! SPECIALISTS I Draw on Nutwre-rsTie compels you to honour * the acceptance. . ; ■ mHIRTY years since, when Db Smith first i X commenced practice here, it was, thought by medical men, that 1 to be a Specialist wit derogatory to the professional man, but ibis, I like most other innovations in scientific and lay matters, was found rather to aid than to be." infra dig " to that profession," wherein the speciality was practised. Lallemand and Eicord, in France, and Acton, in England, were for years cried] down by their medical brethren. Now and for many past years they have been looked up to, and quoted, by every man who pretends to have any knowledge of the particular branch of the profession which ' these gentlemen specially devoted themselves to. It was the same with Erasmus Wilson, the " Skin Doctor/ recently knighted by Her Majesty. Years since, it was the same with Dr. L. L. Smith, of Melbourne, who practised (as did Lallemand and Bicord) as a specialist. In all'cases of dieeases and habits which produce symptoms of Nervous Affections, of Skin Eruptions, of Prostration, aud make human beings invirile, or which unfit them to carry on the purposes of their being, or which demonstrates itself, on the other hand, in Eruptive Diseases and Secondary Forms of Affections. In all of these cases how necei* sory it is to have the Specialist who has x devoted his whole lifetime trf the studying ard practising in this one branch of his pro* feseion? Hence, now, after so many years, all minutiae are familiar to him, and symptoms which (it is not unreasonable to suppose) may tot strike the General Practitioner at once, now from constant practice and observation made Dr. L. L. Smith master of the subject. The medical profession—that is, the more liberal-minded of them—have likewise recognised this fact, and Specialists now in every branch—oculists, aurists, syphilic, mental diseases, chest diseases, and in fact every portion of the human frame, has i.ow some member of the profesßion who devotes his time to that, aud to none other. For instance, the " chest doctor" would on no account attend aaaccoucl ement, and the oculist would not think of setting a broken leg ; but each would advise his patient to go to that doctor who is most famed for treating the disease requiring special skill. De L. L. Smith asks those who require treatment for Weaknees, Prostration, Barren* ness, and Sterility, whose frames and whose constitutions are shattered, to consult him as an expert —thirty (30) years practice in thia colony, with a practice extending throughout not only the Colonies but in India, Chins," Fiji, and even in England, he claims ought to be sufficient to cause every man or woman re* - quiring such skiil as is alluded to above, to consult him either personally or by letter. As a Syphilographer no other medical man has been able to have such large experience as he possesses, and for other allied affections-^* such as Nervous disease—no one ie the .pro* ' feesion has enjoyed so much public confidence. ■ • ' ?
