Good progress continues to be made with the sinking of the shaft, which is now down 55ft. below No. 3 level, and in a fine white class of sandstone. In the western drive on the footwall branch of No. 2 reef at No. 3 level, the quartz has opened out to a width of a foot, and is looking more promising, though gold has not been seen yet. ROCKY POINT. Crushing will be started on Tuesday next at Bull's mill, and a good payable yield is expected. In the mine, the southern drive on the leader is at a standstill for the present. A clay head crossed the face shortly before work was stopped ; the reef is just making again beyond this, and though small, gold was seen in the quartz, and the country is a good sand' stone, with numerous black mineral veins striking through it. This drive will not be resumed tiil the leading stope has been carried along and the timbers placed in position. The stope has been started a few feet from the boundary, bat no quartz has been broken down yet. The excavation for the hoppers was made to-day. . MOANATAIRI. 1 Two leaders, one about 3 inches and the other 8 inches wide, have been cut in the Waitemata crosscut,underneath the main slide.
