Victorian Government's Losses,
It has transpired that the Oriental Bank is indebted to the Victorian Government for £195,000 on loan account, £185,000 on/ fixed deposit, £1,4C9 on current account, and about £30,000 in drafts. Mr Service,, the Premier, has written to the Associated Banks, con* tending that they are all jointly liable for any deficiency, in the public 'account that may arise by the failure of the Oriental Bank. No reply to Mr Service's letter has yet been received. ,} . Sydney, This day. The New South Wales Government has decided to take steps to recover amounts due to the public account by the Oriental Bank.
