The stewards of the Auckland Jockey Club have disallowed the protest from the owner of Woodnymph against Necklace and Krupp taking the stakes in the Ellerslie Plate, as it had not been lodged in due time. A protest against Billy-go by'em taking second money in the Steeplechase was also disallowed, as his failure to jump the hurdles was due to the fact that the hurdles were not there to jump. It was decided to frame a rule stating what time would be allowed to horses to finish in a steeplechase after the first had come in.

Several well known race-horses were submitted for sale by auction to-day, viz.: Flying Scud, Warren, 39 guineas ; King Quail, F. Duder, 70 guineas; Maori, T. Clark, 50 guineas; Consul went to 400, and was withdrawn for 500 guineas ; Administrator to 350, withdrawn for 400 guineas; Sham, withdrawn at 50 for 60 guineas.
