The .New Zealand Sugar Company will commence operations in July or August The following large Teasels are alr&dy afloat with cargoes for Auckland :—Androkles, irom China', with about 600 tons ; Maubegan, from Java, with 1,500 tons ; Maroon, from Java with 700 tons ; and Thames, with 700 tone. It is expected that the-company will be able to turn out between 400 und 500 tons of refined sugar per month.

In the Chriatchurch Supreme Court yesterday Ann Royal was charged with murdering -her children, William Robert and Henry Royal, on March 13th. The charge'in connection with Wm. Robert Royal was taken first. No fresh evidence was adduced, and the Jury, by directions of the Judge, returned a verdict of manslaughter. She was ordered to be csnfined in Sunnyside goal till the pleasure of the Colonial Secretary is known.—ln the other case the Crown Prosej cutor will ask for leave from Wellington to enter a nolle prosequi —Chas. Parker, charged with bigamy, was acquitted.
