London, April 12. A cargo of frozen mutton, comprising about 8000 carcases, on board the steamship Bombay, from Wellington, has arrived in good condition. The quantity placed on the market to-day realised 6d per lb. The police have effected the arrest, at Birkenhead, of a man named Daley, who is identified as having been concerned in the recent dynamite outrages. Five infernal machines have been found in the prisoner's possession. The police have also arrested at Birmingham a man named Egan, who is known to have been an accomplice of Daley's. London, April 13. 1 The latest despatches to hand from Cuba report that a serious engagement has taken place between the rebels and the royal troops. The latter were victorious ( and killed twenty-six of the insurgents. The Duke of Buccleuch is seriously ill, and no hope is entertained of his Grace's recovery. Arrived: The ship Ganymede, from Timaru. Hong Kong, April 13. Telegrams have been received from Tonquin announcing that the French expedition has arrived at Hongboa, and at once opened a bombardment against it. The Chinese garrison offered but slight resistance, and speedily evacuated the town.
