Coromandel Mining.

Success.—During the week this company got down about 4| tons of quartz to the Corby battery, and it was variously estimated to average from 8 to 12ozs of gold per ton, when to the astonishment of everybody there was lodged in the bank 2840z9 retorted gold. On the manager being questioned, he said about three candle boxes full of loose sand, washings from former returns went in with it; but that will hardly account for such an enormous return as this, and the stuff must have been a great deal richer than anyone dreamt of; and when it is remembered the quantity of gold which has been lodged from this mine before, it shows that the block must have been wonderfully rich, and is surely very encouraging for the shareholders of this and surrounding claims.

Vizabd is getting out rich stuff from a small leader. Several new claims are pegged out adjoining this and Matawai claim. There appears every probability of a rush to this locality. There is little doubt the Matawai and Matawai No. 2 are very rich.—Mail.
