QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
The manager now finds that there is yet a considerable distance to drive to the Vanguard reef, its position being further southward than was expected, and it is still some 80 or 90ft. distant. The face of the crosscut is in good white sandstone, and as the cross-courso is being driven on quick progress should be made.
CALEDONIAN.
The Red Queen leader in the eastern drive at No. 2 level continues to maintain its size, being in the face a strong body of stone 18 inches wide, and in breaking down this morning strong dabs of gold were seen. The men have been chiefly employed timbering up during the week, but gold has been seen when the reef was broken. In the leading stope westward two leaders have been found striking into the footwall, and the men are just now opening out on these to see if they are worth driving on.
