THE KARAKA CREEK.
(To the Editor of the Broiling Star.) ' Sjb,—lmmediately after tbe recent; flood in the Karaka Creek there seemed to be a desire on the part of the Borough officials to,clear out the creek, and a party of men were employed for four or fire days removing the debris, but all at once the necessity for all the activity then displayed seems by some means to have departed, and that portion of the creek which most requires clearing out remains in the aame state as at the time of (he flo;d. If tbe Borough authorities do not i think themselves capable of undertaking the work, would it itoi be advisable to let it by contract. I feel sure that there are several contractors who would undertake to clear the creek for lees than one hundred pounds, and should this work be neglected in the future as in the past any floods occurring will be the fault of such neglect, and merchant* ~and others whose property become damaged wiU have a good cause of action against, tbe Borough, The recent flood wai caused bj neglect do keep the creek clear, and if others occur while the oreek U in-. k# present state the damage will be touch more seriout.—l am, &c, Okb who BvitWVi
