tangi Hall, the Governor was met by a pari.y of naiive3, who welcomed him. Ika te Tai re.d an address of welcome to the Governor, who replied expressing his pleasure at being able to visit a place of such historical interest as that where' the treaty of Waitangi was signed. His Excellency then shook hands with the principal native?,. His Excellency and party also inspected the hall. The building is nicely finished inside, and is scrupulously clean. Cocoanut matting is laid up the centre of the rt om, and on the platform, which is neatly carpeted, is a table, at which the presiding natives sit. In an ante-room adjoining the party were shown a little printing press and a quantity of new type, properly distributed in cases. Decisions of meetings, notices, &c, are here printed ready for distribution or posting. Several young natives, who have served their apprenticeship at printing, perform the duties of printers and publishers.
