AUCKLAND.
This day. The Hon. Walter Johnston is at present in Auckland on a visit.
Messrs Keriferd and Grilles, members of the Victorian Cabinet were entertained on Tuesday at 'luncheon, by Mr Justice Gillies. The same evening they were also entertained at dinner by Sir Frederick Whitaker.
Robert Browning, solicitor, a popular young Aucklander, was married yesterday to Miss Buckland.
The first Court under the new Bankruptcy Act sat yesterday and today; there were 19 petitions for examination.
At present there are 209 subscribers to the Telephone Exchange, and nine Bureau offices, making 218 in all. In connection with the telegraph system, several lines hare been authorised, including that from Waihou to Mprrinsville, and the Wade extension from Wairoa.
