Intelligence has been received that a large body of Bedouins occupied Sabooka near the fifth Nile cataract, and communication beyond Berber is consequently prevented; the roads to that town being m possession of the Bedouins. News is'also to hand that a considerable force of the Sebel tribes are collected near Shendy, a town about ICO miles north of Khartoum, and it is stated that an attack upon thi.t place (Shendy) is imminent*

Osman Digna is reported to be camp d nine miles from lamaneb, trying to reassemble his forces.
The application for a new trial of Belt v. Law's case bas been refused.
A severe attack of small-pox has broken out at Madras. A large number of cases are reported, and considerable alarm is felt at the spread of the disease.
Osman Digna bas rallied 2030 of his troops, and has resolvtd to fight.
