Nafieb, This day. Lord of the Isles was scratched at 10 o'clock for the Maiden Bace, and shortly afterwards Douglas scratched Briar, preferring to do that to allowing him to walk over for half the stake. Emir Bey and Loch Lomond were scratched for the Wei* ter Handicap. The weather is slightly showery. t" Five saddled up for the Welter Handicap, Escopeta having the call in the betting at 6 to 4 against. Blaokheath got the worst of the start, but after they had gone a little distance he was taken, to the front, where he remained till entering the straight, when Heretaunga challenged him for the lead, and he compounded half way up the straight. Minerva was let out, and the race was over. Minerva, 1; Heretaunga, 2 ; and Blackheath, 3. Totalisator dividend £3 78.
