WAIORONGOMAI RETURNS.

New Find.—The manager, Mr Me* Liver, to day brought down 7330zs retorted (7240zs sdwts melted) gold, the yield from 440 trucks of general,dirt from all the workings.- At the Arizona tunnel level the No. 1 reef is being driven on north and south, and rising has also been started, the quartz from ail three places showing gold freely; and being of good quality; A considerable portion of the dirt crushed came from here. A winze has been started on the No. 2 reef, at the level entered near the Diamond Gully, to meet the, new low level,; and the reef here shows good gold. The low level has still to go 100 ft. to reach the reef, which should be cut in six weeki. Ten head are now employed, apd the, dirt is shaping up to the average. Colonist.—The month's return from this mine was also brought down to-day by the manager, Mr Gavin. In all 284 trucks were treated for the return of 297|ozs retorted ' (2940zs 2iwts melted) gold. This was chiefly from the low level, where driving townrds the Cana~ dian and stoping is in progress, the reef continuing to look well. There is still 100 ft to drive before the boundary is reached. Northward the drive holed through to the surface. A new tunnel at the hopper level, 70ft below the present bottom level, is to be started. About 90ft of driving will cut the reef, and there will be 430 ft to drive towards the Premier, and 250 ft towards the Canadian, before reaching the boundaries. Twenty Head 6f stamps are now employed. Peemieb.—This company has, during the month, put through 54 trucks of quartz, partly from, the smithy level, and partly from an intermediate level opened out from the winze, for the good payable yield of 64§ozs. retorted gold, which was reduced on melting to 63:zs ldwt.
