Harbor Board.

The adjourned meeting called for last night was attended by only Messrs Bagnail, Bull, Carpenter, and McGowan, consequently there was not a sufficient number of members present to constitute a quorum, but those present proceeded to transact the most pressing business, subject to their action being confirmed at the next meeting of the Board. The dynamite belonging to an Australian Company, of which' Messrs,. T. and S. -Morrin are t|ve agents, was asked by the Secretary to bo destroyed or removed from the magazine, it being dangerous ; it was some very old dynamite manufactured by a company whose business the present Dynamite Company took over, and was now so old as to be considered dangerous to move.—The Secretary was ordered to write to the local agents, asking them to have it removed from the magazine.

The state of the Goods Wharf was considered, and reference made to the heavy loads taken over it by some of the carters. The Harbormaster who was present said that loads of over two tons were drawn daily over the wharf which would not stand' such traffic, the planking broke in all directions, and the wharf swayed under it to such an extent, that it was rendered unsafe. A vessel was alongside with machinery for the Moanatairi Extended Company, many of the pieces being about 3 tons, and the boiler over that weight. The Harbormaster said he was continually warning these carters.—lt was ordered that proceedings be taken against those who offend in this respect against the Bye»law. . The purchase of a weigh bridge was brought before the Board. The Harbor- , master was of opinion it would be a great convenience to the public, and would re pay its cost to the Board. The machine could be purchased in Auckland, and load down near the Toll-keeper's office. The Harbormaster was ordered to inquire as to the price" and cost of laying it down.

The state of Curtis'- wharf was considered, and it was decided that the Harbour master effect temporary repairs.

Several matters of routine were gone through, and some accoants were passed for payment.
