LABOUR REPORT.
&. M. Heighten and Co., 177 Queen street, Auckland, report 88 follows :—Our supply of men serrants have been equal to tho demand, and we has numbers Btill on our books open for situations. Many new arrivals claim high wages, but finally accept the current rate. Women servants are much sought for, and the supply small, and wages higb. Engagements made as follows:—Married couples for farms, £50 to £75 and found ; for hotels, £100 and found ; farm bands, 15s to 20s; youths, 10b and found; boys, 6a and found; drivers, £2 2s per week j gardeners, 25s and found; men cooks, 25s to 50s per week ; general hands at current wages ; women servants at high rates of wages, and few engagements, they being few. and good, servants very ecarce, and many pressing demands. We have on our books waiting for employment—Married couples, gardeners, grooms, farm hands, general Hands, tradesmen, station hands, and numbers of store to en and clerks.
