Thames Harbo Board.
The following report was presented at the usual monthly meeting of the Board
at four o'clock, this afternoon :— "To the*Cbairman, Sic. —Gentlemen,— The contract at the Goods Wharf is progressing very fairly, and if carried on at the same rate as at present, the contract will be finished well within the stipulated time. The wharf below the silt wall is rapidly getting worse, and during last month has taken an unusually largo quantity of plunking to keep it in repair. I hope to be able to cet the wharf in . thorough repair befbr the winter sets in. Shortland Wharf is available for use now from end to end, and the contractors are. filling, levelling, and metalling the wharf pretty well from end to end. There will ■ bo a portion below the shed that will require levelling up and metalling, that - there is no provision made for in the Government contract, and I would sug"gesl that the Engineer's attention be called to it. During last month I ,had a new set of steps fitted to the powder magazine wharf, and some of the wharf planking repaired, so that now the wharf is in good repair, and should not want anything more done to it for some eon~ 1 gideroble time.—l am. &c, Thos. C. Bayldon, Haibor Master."
