The infernal machines found at the Victoria, Charing Cross, and Paddington railway stations are all identical in construction, and are shown to be of American make. The .clock-work mechanism in the one found.at Paddington had, it is proved, failed to act, or a serious explosion would have occurred.

In the House of Commons last night, Mr Gladstone introduced a bill for the reform of the franchise. The measure provides for a uniform qualification thoughout the three kingdoms. The Premier' also announced that a bill for dealing with the redistribution of seats would be introduced next session.

News is to hand from Souakim that General Graham has commenced an advance against the Arab rebels.

Consols remain at 101 f. The bank rate of discount is 3|, the market rate 3-§ per cent. New Zealand securities—s per cent 10-40 loan, 104J ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 104; 4| per cent 1879-1904 loan, 100 ex div ; 4 per cent inscribed stock, ICO. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £14,100,000, a proportion of the reserve to the liabilities of 41 per cent. The colonial breadstuff's and tallow markets remain unchanged; Australian hides : A large quantity are offered, and the demannd is limited at prices fth of a penny lower. Wool sales :At to-day's auction, prices were steady, but the demand was inactive.

The South Australian gunboat Protector will make a trial trip in the middle of April, and will sail soon afterwards. Her guns have already been tried and proved to be excellent. Bussia has joined Prince Bismark's league. Great interest attaches in Berlin to the warm reception accorded to the Grand Duke Michael and General Gourko.
